OUR PROGRAM

The cornerstones of our teachings are energy-based classical Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, spiritual heart meditation, and the non-dual wisdom of Advaita Vedanta. We aspire to synchronize mind and heart, to combine rational understanding with deep-going practice, and to develop present moment awareness. Authenticity and inspiration, passion and enthusiasm are our hallmarks.

Now for the first time we can offer a Yoga Alliance certified teacher training online, and we will bring all our enthusiasm and knowledge and love for teaching and learning to help students go deep into the heart of Yoga.

WHAT MAKES OUR TRAINING SPECIAL?

We present a selection of key elements that will empower you to become a successful Yoga instructor: learning how to self practice, comprehensive knowledge of Yoga techniques, skillfulness in correction and adjustments, depth in Yoga philosophy, and the development of leadership qualities. We are of course fully committed to bringing all this into our online course.

We aim to take the Yoga off the mat and integrate it into daily life. During this challenging time we are excited to step forward and share our passion and love in a time when people need Yoga more than ever.

SPACE FOR INTEGRAL EVOLUTION

The Akasha Yoga Academy is a registered and certified member of the international Yoga Alliance. The curriculum of our Teacher Training Courses is approved by Yoga Alliance, and the primary instructors are accredited as Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers (E-RYT-200 & 500).

Akasha means space, Yoga refers to the spiritual union, and an Academy is a place for the transmission of wisdom.

The Sanskrit word Akasha also means radiance, which can be related to the luminosity of the Spiritual Heart. In profound meditations the mind melts into a shining space of pure Existence, and dissolves in the all-pervading Awareness of chit-akasha. Akasha also refers to Ether, the most refined of the five classical elements, which is similar to Aristotle’s Quintessence.

The Sanskrit term Yoga means to yoke or to unite, and suggests the union between individual and universal consciousness. One of the first references to Yoga as a practice for spiritual Awakening can be found in the Taittiriya Upanishad (around 500 BC).

An Academy is an educational community of practitioners, scholars, and students committed to the development and transmission of knowledge. The Greek term “Akademia” refers to a sacred place in which the ancient philosopher Plato (428–347 BC) transmitted his profound teachings.
